The construction of a £19m day surgery and outpatient unit on behalf of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been completed.

The new day case theatres and ophthalmology services at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital increases theatre capacity on the site and gives patients to access state-of-the-art new facilities.

The new unit, constructed by Tilbury Douglas, includes a dedicated outpatient and diagnostic space, as well as three additional theatres.

This is the third project successfully delivered by Tilbury Douglas for the trust last month after the handover of the new Ribblesdale Oncology Ward at Royal Preston Hospital and a £4.8m day case theatres project, also at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital.

Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, said: “Being able to efficiently deliver and handover three projects in such a short period is a real testament to the expertise within our team and our excellent track record in delivering some of the best NHS facilities in the UK.”
